Sometimes making music is just a cheap excuse to spend some time with your friends. And so the three of us went touring last winter in South-Denmark or how you would call it: Germany. Whatsoever, here's a tour-split one year too late, but who gives a fuck. If you like danceable music but hate clubs, if you like punks doing non-punk and if you think it's a waste of time to read this, as much as I think it was a waste of time to write this, then maybe you should just give this record a try.

The six new songs on Sanitary Situations continue where Gym Tonic started their way to the top with the 2019 full length Good Job. Like their long-time touring siblings Lassie, they know, that it is indeed a long way. But the proof, that they're on the right track is right here. Drawing inspiration from their everyday lives or the world around, the new record is their usual merging of post-punk with new wave and 80’s synth music, worshipping their masterminds DEVO. It includes themes such as addiction, contagious diseases, sexual harassment and the relations between human mind and technology. At times comical, satirical or tragic their songs are always very lively and absolutely floorfillers.

Gym Tonic are an international four-piece (living in Berlin) and talk of the town when it comes to hyped-up synth punk. In some parallel universe, DEVO, Half Japanese and The Residents grew into one and decided to channel their energy into songs about nuclear catastrophes, vitamin injections, car sickness and deadly events. Throw melody lines straight out of the Twillight Zone on top and you have an all-around gem.

Ich habe die zwei Typen vielleicht 3 oder 4 mal gesehen, 2x auf ner Ost-Deutschland Tour mit Pisse (ich glaub Zittau und Chemnitz) – wo irgendwas mit dem Bein von dem Kleinen war, bei ner Show mit unangekündigtem Lärmschutzgutachten (Laden gibt’s nicht mehr) und vielleicht noch irgendwo anders – vielleicht vergessen, vielleicht n Fall fürs Phantasialand. Für mich stand nach jedem Konzerterlebnis immer fest, dass sind die einzig wahren Hallenser Untergrundkönige, denn sie können zwischen harte und milde wirklich alles.
Für mein einfaches Gemüt reicht manchmal auch n Titel wie „Kräftemethen“ um mich abzuholen.

81 Parking Lot - My Life Is A Mess CS

Schon gurgelt eisgekühltes Stella Artois in einer Vuvuzela die Kehle runter: Parking Lot aus dem überschaubar-tropischen Leipzig spielen auf ihrer aktuellsten Musikkaszetten-Auskopplung My Life is a Mess (positive thinking!) dem diesjährigen Hitze-Sommer entgegen. Das Sonnendeck wird gerade noch von Algen gesäubert, schon erklingen 12 fruchtige Quasi-Hits dieses quirlig-gemergelte Beachboys-Trio (u.a. Telesatan, Staches, Snitsh Pitsh, Mellie, Mosquito Ego, ...) im Vorprogramm der Frühstücks-Animation. Irgendwo zwischen cartoonigem Surf und mitreiszendem Garage Punk changiert dieses Machwerk vorpubertärer Musikanbändelung ganz wunderbar. Rhythmisch, schnell, zappelig, choral! Von den Randliegen am Pool winken die rotgebrannten Szenegröszen Lassie und Doc Flippers. Textlich geht’s beinahe hörspielhaft zur Sache über Gängiges (love, life and lazyness) - alles elementare Punk-Zutaten einer zuckersüszen Granita-Melange à la L-O-L! Auf Tour durch Deutschland-Mittelerde sind Parking Lot (auch: Parking Lord!) ab Ende März und danach in deinem Walkman am Dauernuddeln. Drum guck’ jetzt nicht so deppert, sondern greif zur analogen Kopie! In der Juli-Glut des Jahres 2023 wird’s bald eh kein Wifi-Signal mehr für dich und dein Spritzwaszer-geschütztes Huawei geben…

Splizz - wow! - spätestens nach 50 Sekunden La Vie sollte jeder/m klar sein, wohin die Reise geht. Stimmung, Melodien und Düsternis direkt aus England, 1980 geborgt, mit dem relativ cleanen Monarchie und Alltag Setup vermischt um dann Post-Punk gelabelt zu werden. Nochmal wow! Zehn Songs die permanent zwischen 'Teenage Angst', 'Hausaufgaben gemacht' und DIY hin und her pendeln und sich wie ein warmes Messer in der Butter in Dein Gehirn hineinarbeiten.

btw: Ich würde es wunderschön finden, wenn Splizz zur nächsten Fusion 20min vor Sonnenaufgang spielen.

Kassette - 2. Auflage des Kultes um die Jonny Kurt-kapernde Hühnerficker Kombo. Ursprünglich als Soundtrack für einen Western gedacht, den man nur mit Virtual Reality Brille gucken kann. Der Film ist wie bekannt nichts geworden, weil die Brillen so teuer (und mittlerweile überholt) sind. Die Platte ist darum umso besser gereift und deswegen wieder erhältlich! Jedes Tape mit Hühnerfeder aus Großgrimmelshausen.
